The city of North Adams formerly overlooked is revitalized with contemporary art. Our building was a dilapidated block, but solidly constructed, beautifully detailed Victorian row houses that dominate the view of the MASS MoCA is a vast exhibition space. Porches, has been inspired by MASS MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art), the visionary painting galleries and theaters is rooted in a sprawling complex of 19th century mills. Phase 1 of MASS MoCA and its renovation was completed in 1999. Porches is the most visible manifestation, to date, changes resulting from MASS MoCA. Its 47 rooms offer a retro-edgy, chic and industry. The interior blends style with a striking and colorful tribute to the generations of families of factory workers who lived here.
